–– System General, a leading provider
of power management ICs, today announced a tightly
integrated PWM controller IC—the SG6842. This
controller IC offers several advantages for AC/DC
SMPS manufacturers including low standby power consumption
and reduced design costs.
To minimize standby
power consumption, a proprietary patented green-mode
function (patent number: US6,545,882) provides off-time
modulation to linearly decrease the switching frequency
under light-load conditions. Under zero-load conditions,
the power supply enters burst-mode. Through the BiCMOS
process, the SG6842 can perform low start-up current
(8uA), and low operating current (3.7mA). It simultaneously
utilizes multiple protections. It can integrate discrete
components into one product thereby reducing design
complexity, and product design time.
The SG6842 is
specially designed for LCD Monitors, LCD-TNs, DVDs,
and N/B Adaptors. It is a high performance power IC
with remarkably low standby and operating current
requirements.
