| Taipei,
Taiwan: April 28 2003: System General today announced
two new desktop PC power supply controllers, further strengthening
its position as a leading provider of power management
ICs. The SG6510 and the SG6513 are being offered as cost
competitive choices for desktop PC power supply manufactures.
These switch mode power supply controllers integrate over
20 discrete components into one product. They provide
engineers with a reliable solution that reduces design
complexity and board space usage.
"System
General continues its commitment to the PC desktop market
with the introduction of the SG6510 and the SG6513,
said Dr Gary Lin, Vice President of the Semiconductors
Business Unit. By integrating all of the required voltage,
current, and temperature protection capabilities, our
family of supervisor ICs is the best solution for safeguarding
multi-voltage output systems. Our controllers enable
an entire electronics system to operate safely under
a monitored environment with optimal protection against
failure."
The
new supervisor ICs from System General can simultaneously
apply a full range of protection features at three different
voltage output levels. With high-precision voltage detection,
the SG6510 and SG6513 can react to error conditions more
reliably and faster than ever. The SG6513 can detect over
current conditions as small as ± 5mV difference.
The new supervisor ICs are temperature independent, ensuring
safety regardless of operating conditions.
More Features
The
full range of protection features offered includes:
Over Current Protection (OCP), Over Voltage Protection
(OVP), Under Voltage Protection (UVP), Under Voltage
Sense (UVS), Fault Protection (FPO), and a Power Good
signal (PGO). Even during power brown-out conditions,
the SG6510 and SG6513 can still protect the power supply
from abnormal conditions such as under voltage and over
current. Unlike traditional controllers,
the SG6510 and the SG6513 can also prevent the power
supply from locking up when the power supply suddenly turns on or off.
Applications
The
SG6510 and the SG6513 are ideally suited for desktop
PC power supplies. They can also be used for game consoles, telecom
infrastructure, and other applications that require
power supplies with multiple voltage output supervision.
Packaging and Pricing
The SG 6510 comes
in an 8-pin package. Its companion product, the SG6513,
comes in a 14-pin package and includes Over Current
Protection (OCP) as an additional feature.
